The Windy City, Chi-Town, The City That Works, whatever you want to call it, Chicago has a charm and appealing allure to it that other cities aspire to emulate. Home to over 3 million residents, Chicago is the largest city in the state of Illinois in the Midwestern United States. It ranks in the top ten of the world’s most powerful Global Finance Centers and it is the third largest city in the USA. Visitors flock to Chicago for its rich cultural offerings: the city is abound with famous jazz clubs, theaters, symphonies, and of course the Chicago cubs baseball team. The architecture of Chicago is also a main attraction. The city was rebuilt in an impressive way after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, which decimated the city. Today, Chicago is home to the Willis Tower, and the Trump International Hotel and Tower, both of which appear on the list of the 10 Tallest Buildings in the World. Also notable are the various sculptures about Chicago, including the Cloud Gate, known locally as “the bean”, a reflective bean-shaped orb located within “the loop” in Chicago. Chicago is incredibly accessible, and its O’Hare International Airport is the second busiest airport in the world. Because of this accessibility, Chicago is the third largest convention center in the United States.

The Patagonian Perito Moreno Glacier, located in the Los Glaciares National Park of Argentina, is part of the Andes system and is one of the major tourist attractions in Patagonia due to its ease of accessibility and impressive size. The glacier is 5 km (3 miles) wide and has an average above-water height of 74 meters (240 feet). Perito Moreno Glacier sees daily bus tours as it’s just a 2 hour bus ride from the small town of El Calafate. Visitors can walk around the glacier to see it from a few different angles, or take a short trek on the glacier itself.

The North Pole, once an almost mythical place visited only by the heartiest of explorers (and Santa Claus) is now a tourist destination. Though certainly not for everyone, those arctic lovers who are inclined can visit the North Pole by ship, helicopter, or submarine. The textbook definition of the North Pole is the point in the middle of the Arctic Ocean where the Earth’s axis of rotation meets the Earth’s surface. The North Pole is, of course, incredibly cold, though it is significantly warmer than the South Pole. Winter temperatures range from −43 °C (−45 °F) to −26 °C (−15 °F), and Summer temperatures average around the freezing point (0 °C, 32 °F). Tours to the North Pole can be found on a variety of specialty tour company websites.

Remote but absolutely breathtaking, Disko Bay off the Western coast of Greenland is poised to become a popular arctic vacation destination. Travelers to Disko Bay enjoy boat and kayak whale watching trips among the icebergs, year-round dog sledding, and spectacular hiking excursions. The area has very warm summers for Greenland, with temperatures reaching up to 27° Celsius (80° Fahrenheit). The nearby town of Qasigiannguit features Greenland’s oldest wooden house, now the town’s museum. The museum has a permanent collection of artifacts from various prehistoric cultures from the area, dating as far back as 2400 BCE.
